My Dad was a shearer and sheep farmer ... In fact, in my house, above the lounge, proudly hangs my grandfather's wool baling stencil. I've thought a lot about family lately and when I think about it, it's probably where my obsession with wool began. I still remember the smell of the shearing sheds and sleeping on the wool bales as a tiny tot. A fond memory of the hard work my Dad did in those 40 degree tin sheds.
I don't like using acrylics on my horses and have always chosen wool for its breathability, moisture wicking properties, shock absorbency and the way it shapes to a horses back. I have been asked many times if I also sold a plain work pad - I didn't, until now. These can't be customised as they are a stock item and a lower cost alternative to custom pads, but are made from the same wool felt as all my pads and available in cream, grey marle and choc marle.
Unlike some work pads on the market, I have sewn around the entire pad, which gives it added durability, stops the edges from fluffing out and maintains a great shape. It also just looks 'finished'. I have still used leather wears on both the wither and the girth areas, to eliminate any splitting or rubbing of the wool when cinching up. Each work series pad carries the MBH logo on the near side and there is no wait time on these as I have stock ready to go. This range cannot be personalised. Sizing - 710mm x 710mm.
Materials + Care
I use the best materials I can find, from local suppliers where possible. For saddle pads, please only use cool water and mild wool wash and never use a washing machine. A soft rubber curry comb may be used to remove dirt and hair, however I recommened the nozzle of your vaccuum for general dust and hair.
Postage + Returns
Where personalisation is required, please allow 3 days before postage (there may be times I am away and this will always be announced on my facebook site so please follow to get regular updates. Where no personalisation is required, these usually go out the following day except on weekends. Returns are only accepted for workmanship faults, not change of mind.
