These are quick change leather reins made from first grade Hermann Oak harness leather.

These are a quick-change buckle setup and are hand cut, the old-fashioned way.

MBH reins are matched pairs, meaning I cut two at a time right next to each other and they stay together (you'll see from the markings on the leather that they used to be side by side), and they're also naturally weighted at the ends.

MBH double stitched leather reins are a little different being that they are a double layer of leather ... the top side is first grade Hermann Oak Old World Harness Leather, and the bottom side is latigo. I tested a couple ways of making these and loved the feel that the combination of the two leathers gave.

The Hermann Oak harness leather is hot stuffed with pure tallows, oleos, waxes and finished by hand to ensure the leather substance, feel and strength are second to none. As you sew these babies, you can literally see the wax come to the surface of the rein, which means the more you use them, the more it will come to the surface and the better they are going to keep getting!

While we're on the double layer train of thought, the edges have been sanded flush (so you can't feel it's two layers!), rounded off and burnished on all four sides, to give a soft feel. All up they are about 7mm thick in the middle of the rein (ends are naturally weighted so are a bit thicker) and 5/8 in width (sorry about the cm and inches measurements - now you know how my brain works lol).

They are also double sewn, and the buckles and keeper are stainless steel - proper good hardware.

Oh, and a nice little finish to the near side rein is a little Australian made reminder ... and are lined in latigo.

Made to order - 6ft, 6.6ft and 7ft lengths

Materials + Care

I use the best materials I can find, from local suppliers where possible. For saddle pads, please only use cool water and mild wool wash and never use a washing machine. A soft rubber curry comb may be used to remove dirt and hair, however I recommened the nozzle of your vaccuum for general dust and hair.

Postage + Returns

Where personalisation is required, please allow 3 days before postage (there may be times I am away and this will always be announced on my facebook site so please follow to get regular updates. Where no personalisation is required, these usually go out the following day except on weekends. Returns are only accepted for workmanship faults, not change of mind.
